As our empowerment mission in schools continued in the first week of March 2021, discussions with one principal who had a form 4 class lesson, were very interesting. As such, the revelations by the Principal are still of great concern upto now. Why? Particularly, the students had directed numerous questions to the principal, about their future after leaving the school, whose answers were difficult to bring out. Now, how relevant could the questions be to the empowerment of the students involved and probably all the other form 4 students in the country?

Since conceptualizing our empowerment mission in 2015, we have conducted numerous seminars in secondary schools for both students, as well as teachers. We have also been engaged by a number of universities, especially during career days.  In the early stages, the seminars were lasting only one hour.

However, over time, students kept shooting numerous questions, arising from the lessons learnt from the presentation. Imagine questions on how students will reconsider the extrinsic influences by parents/close relatives, teachers, peers and also the prevailing environment! How will these other parties be convinced of the desired change influenced by the new lessons learnt from our seminar?

Apparently, it reached a situation whereby the expected questions became predictable, almost all the time. Could there have been some gaps requiring to be attended to, within the presentation? Yes indeed, the gaps ended up becoming absolutely clear. Eventually, addressing them during the presentations became inevitable. That is why we have always insisted on 2 and a half hours, as adequate time for any of our seminars in schools and universities too. That way, we are always certain that no participant will be left in dilemmas of whatever kind.

In any case, they are able to align their entire life strategy, after the seminar – remember, “where there’s no vision, people perish,” Proverbs 29:18. Most importantly, in our case, it became possible to hostically sort out the common issues of ATTITUDES, POOR FOCUS and CHALLENGED READING CULTURE.

Regarding the concerned principal, it would have been exciting to determine the students’ exact concerns, and provide answers immediately. Luckily, the Principal may probably manage to dig out expected answers from the publications already acquired from us.

The good news is that any questions that may be of interest, in the absence of answers through a seminar are still welcome. What of our future leaders under care in different learning institutions?  How well have their issues of concern been attended to? Particularly, are they likely to face their next stages of life with clear strategic directions? If not, just be sure that solutions are now definitely within reach? As such, the fate of our future leaders should not be left to chance, isn’t it?
