Our empowerment mission this week involved a seminar in a very special school. But first, since our empowerment mission started reaching out to counties beyond Nairobi and Kiambu in February 2018, we have visited at least 16 Counties. Numerous Schools have embraced our empowerment strategy through not only our publications, but also seminars for students, as well as teachers or both. Actually, we have so far conducted seminars in different schools spread around 12 counties.
Nyandarua County has not been left behind since 2018. But, something had escaped our attention. We are stakeholders in one of the leading private schools, where our lawyer daughter spent her last 2 years in secondary school. So, while in Nyandarua, a few weeks ago, it became necessary to visit the said school to appreciate them for having participated in nurturing our daughter towards becoming the passionate lawyer she still is.
The first presentation upon meeting the principal, was 2 FREE copies of our booklet titled ” The 21st Century Student: Are you Creating the Future Today?” (whose foreword was written by the long serving Principal of State House Girls High School, before her retirement in 2020). An interesting discussion with the principal of our daughters old school ensued. The same regarded their former student of about 15 years ago,, who he taught Mathematics.
Eventually, he not only acquired our other two publications, but also indicated interest in a Teachers’ Seminar, that was put in perspective. Alongside, the principal was excited upon reaching out to the former student for a conversation, even before the seminar took shape on 1st October 2021.
During the seminar of 40 teachers, one of them made a surprise, through an unexpected question, posed as a short break continued. Are the education authorities aware of how the world has evolved, as you have explained to us?
Me: Why them specifically?
Teacher! If they had known this, the implementation of the CBC couldn’t have any challenges.
Me: When I learnt of massive exam leakages and cheating in the 2015 KCSE exams, which produced about 10,000 largely fake A’s, I became very concerned. In March 2016, I presented a copy of Career Dynamics in the 21st Century to the then Education CS. You all know that amongst other things, A’s were reduced to 241 in 2016, 242 in 2017 etc
Teacher: Those were truely commendable efforts. What of the current situation?
Me: When the continued blocking and frustrations of implementation of the CBC became apparent, I walked to MOE Hqs on 6th Sept 2021 to present absolutely FREE copies of the 3rd Edition of the Career Dynamics… to the Education CS, 3 PSs and Education Policy Director. Very clearly, this edition indicates that the concept was used for the architecture of the CBC. In the forwarding letter accompanying the free copies, I asked them all to call me for a meeting on CBC implementation matters, if need be.
Teacher: These are great efforts indeed. Keep it up!
Eventually, the seminar evaluation became highly rated, as the teachers indicated acquiring new awareness of how empowerment should take shape in the 21st Century. Apparently, this Nyahururu experience adds to yet another great one in a Nairobi based private school that happened in the recent past.
Seemingly, it is time to ensure that private schools are fundermentally involved in the transformation of our education system. As such, they should all feel free to embrace our invaluable empowerment strategy, isn’t it?

Thanks very much Mr Mwangi Wanjumbi for your well organised seminar held in our school, on 1st October 2021. It was so educative to the extent that teachers were very positive. Thanks and God bless you so much.
