The inherent causes of continued students’ indiscipline still remain intact and no doubt require attention from all educational stakeholders. Interactions last week with educational institutional managers of one county brought to light, issues of great concern. In a number of schools, students accompanied by their parents were still being re-admitted, two weeks plus, since re-opening. The respective forms of applicable disciplinary measures, were however uncertain.

All the same, revelations indicated that the school system is still experiencing anxieties occasioned by the students’ indiscipline that occurred last year. More still, whereas burning of schools has been suppressed, there are other forms of Indiscipline that are trending.

It is felt that drug menace has now taken new levels. Imagine masks becoming used not just for protection against coronavirus virus this time, but rather as a means of concealing drugs that are continually being sniffed by the culprits concerned! So, does that not contribute greatly to the destruction of the lives of our future leaders?

Seemingly, we all need to realize that there is more requiring to be done than just suppressing all forms of indiscipline. Tactively eliminating the same Indiscipline in a way that influences positive behavior is what will work. Why so?

The causes of indiscipline which include poor attitudes and poor focus or strategic direction have numerously been articulated. The same have been associated with the education system being aligned to the 20th Century paradigms that are generally influenced by extrinsic factors.

Under such circumstances, people believe that it is difficult to achieve their desires in life, a situation that leads them to scarcity mentality. Any which way of achieving whatever they want in life becomes welcome. That is what largely leads to the negativities continually experienced in our country. Obviously, the school system is the brooding ground of those mentalities.

As such, the kind of attitudes that influence varius forms of negativities need to be addressed. The same can only be sorted out through aligning all from the 20th to 21st Century paradigms of abundance mentality. Based on the latter, people believe that the power to achieve what they desire in life is within them, only requiring to be appropriately nurtured. They become positively influenced and full of hope. Indiscipline levels become minimal. This approach is realistic and very natural. It is the core of our engagements not only in the school system but also beyond.

On a number of occasions, we have been engaged to realign professional groups, church set ups and even family groups particularly with children presumed to have lost strategic direction. We have also been engaged to handle schools with students associated with seriously challenged attitudes. Our focus has mainly been to help participants graduate from scarcity to abundance mentalities.

The desired results become achievable almost immediately upon realignment of attitudes. As we all look forward to the benefits of the Competency Based Curriculum – CBC, we SHOULD at the same time work out ways and means of saving those experiencing the 8-4-4 system from the negativities associated with the paradigms of the 20th Century. It is extremely unfortunate leaving their fate to chance, when practical solutions are already in existence.

FYI
While in a church set up, the religious authority on the floor just this week indicated that A students from the education system end up becoming employees of C students. The same c students end up in political leadership positions. Do you agree with those sentiments?

In my case, I totally disagreed with the same. After the end of the session, I pulled the religious leader aside for a discussion. I impressed upon him that A students end up becoming spoilt of choices of pursueing any empowerment pathway. Largely, they are influenced by extrinsic factors, based on the paradigms of the 20th Century.

Under such circumstances, are all A students able to apply the knowledge acquired? If not, couldn’t they be putting their intellectual talent to waste? If so, that naturally leads to the beginning of mediocrity at personal, organizational and national levels.

Based on these assertions, the religious leader sought to know how he can learn more on the same. Easily, he acquired a copy of the KICD approved Career Dynamics in the 21st Century. That was inspiration for the week, as I await feedback on the findings of the religious leader.
