Seemingly, there is always an unusual experience every now and then, which leads to some lessons worth sharing. Our empowerment mission this week took us through a Mt. Kenya region circuit.

Alongside, I met a deputy principal somewhere in a Tharaka Nthi Sub-County School. Towards, the end of year 2022, he had acquired his own personal copies of Career Dynamics in the 21st Century, as well as Living Beyond Survival: No More Tiptoeing in Life.

He immediately applied the knowledge acquired from the publications extremely well, to the extent that he was able to fundamentally change the students in his school. How? Particularly, he transformed their thinking process quite well, based on the lessons learnt from our publications.

The students were able to learn that without proper focus or strategic direction, their success in life could be seriously threatened. They will move without having any destination and eventually give in to the forces of nature.

That approach led to the school mean grade shooting from 2.9 – 5.1. Students who qualified to join university rose from 3 in 2021 to 15 in 2022. The History Subject taught by the deputy principal achieved a mean-grade of 9.0, the lowest grade being C+. These were great achievements indeed.

Eventually, the school ended up becoming the most improved in Tharaka Nthi County. That brings to mind yet another school in Tharaka Nthi, whose unique usage of our publications led to the school’s mean-grade shooting from 3.4-5.6 in 2019.

Still, the school does well and will shortly benefit from our transformative seminar titled “CREATING THE FUTURE TODAY.” This will help the school to rejuvenate their performance standards. Apparently, the school’s reading culture has continued declining after transfer of their highly dependable guidance and counselling teacher.

Meanwhile, it was unbelievable how the impact of our publications was felt so fast in a Tharaka Nthi Sub-County School. My mind raced back to the month of October year 2017. Our second daughter had become frustrated by the performance of a highly innovative business model that she was conducting in top-notch secondary schools, situated in Nairobi and Kiambu Counties.

She was teaching students how to manage finances, investments etc., which was supported by an online connection with Nairobi stock exchange. The idea had led the girl to becoming top 40 under 40 women in the Business Daily, while aged 23 years and still in 3rd year University.

It was unbelievable that the great idea was in 2017 leading to frustrations. The business model was not growing as expected. So, upon learning this, I simply summoned our young daughter for a meeting for just the two of us. I was keen to know her mission in life, vision and other related attributes. When I couldn’t get clear answers, I assigned the girl to undertake a very simple task.

She needed to read Chapter 5-8 of her copy of Career Dynamics in the 21st Century. We were to meet after 2 weeks for further assessment. Just in time for the next meeting, the girl cancelled the same. Why? She had now known her problem.

“I have been a big fish, but in a very small pod,” she intimated. “Now, I have already talked to Safaricom and Google. They will be ready to engage me as from February 2018. I will take up a job with whoever comes fast,” she confidently indicated.

By February 2018, our young daughter had through internet adverts taken up a job from an international company, even before Safaricom and Google called up. She has continued her mobility in such organizations ever since.

Seemingly, reading our publications elaborately opened the mind of the Sub-County School Deputy Principal just like our young daughter had experienced. The only difference is that the deputy principal easily transferred his newly acquired knowledge to his students. Other teachers have similar opportunities, but do they likewise exploit the same?

The Mt. Kenya circuit indicated earlier led to some very interesting developments. One of them was meeting a principal recently transferred to a LAIKIPIA East based school.

We shared experiences since we last met in a Nakuru County School. The school had registered it’s first KCSE exams in 2019. Alongside, we had been engaged for our seminar titled CREATING THE FUTURE TODAY for all form 2,3 and 4 Student. The performance of the school is still very memorable.

They first recorded mean-grade was 6.6 and the school was position 3 in Nakuru East Sub-County. According to the principal, the school maintained this performance for 3 years, but has recently started declining.

We wondered how the same high performance standards could be maintained when the candidates of last year, had different mentalities compared to the ones of the 3 classes we had handled in 2019.

No wonder, the principal was to immediately engage us for a seminar in the current school. Sadly, we had already been engaged in another school on the preferred date of 31st March 2023. Nevertheless, we look forward to engagement on a mutually convenient day, in the near future.
