The seminar this week coincided with my birthday celebration. It took place on Saturday, 30th October 2021 and was rather interesting. Do you ever recall a discussion on this forum regarding an interview by Radio Waumini FM station (a Catholic Church Station), that happened on 8th May 2018?

As revealed sometimes last year, one Kenyan by the name Wilson, kept record of the interview and re-visited the same, just a week before the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. Wilson called us on a Friday, while in Nakuru acomplishing activities of our empowerment mission. Upon finally meeting in Nairobi, the same evening, Wilson revealed his exact intentions.

When Wilson listened to the Radio Waumini interview in May 2018, his daughter was in class 8. By the time of our meeting, the girl was in form 2 in a private school ( run by Catholic Sisters) situated somewhere around Juja Town. Wilson wanted the daughter to undergoe our empowerment session, so that she could appropriately align not only the knowledge and performance in school, but also her entire life strategy.

However, Wilson did not want his daughter to experience the process alone. As such, he decided to include all her classmates in the empowerment experience – in any case, he was the parents’ class representative. So, as we envisaged the appropriate date of the empowerment process, Wilson acquired a copy of the KICD approved Career Dynamics in the 21st Century as well as the advancement titled “Living Beyond Survival: No More Tiptoeing in Life,” most importantly for his family. Sadly, the coronavirus pandemic became part of our lives the following week.

Intetestingly, upon lifting of the curfew last week, Wilson made a call once again. “Hellooo, this is Wilson, the one who listened to you during the interview of Radio Waumini FM, some years ago. Do you recall me?
Me: Wow! Hi Wilson. Trust you are well and you must by now have read our publications, haven’t you?
Wilson: Precisely, that is why I am calling. The two publications have become enormously invaluable to me. It is now about passing the knowledge to my daughter, but definitely through you.
Me: I feel honored. When do you want that to happen?
Wilson: She is now in form 3 and I would still want her to at the same time experience the knowledge with her classmates, on a mutually convenient day.

After considering all the requirements, we agreed on the timing and intricate details, including involving the class teachers. Having cleared all issues with the school principal, everything easily fell in place on Saturday, 30th October 2021.

Interestingly, as the school acquired our usual empowerment participation certificate, Wilson’s daughter acquired her own, in recognition of the efforts of her invaluably visionary and generous father. More still, Wilson’s spouse who runs a private primary school and witnessed the session, indicated need for our seminar for her teachers.

Seemingly, our well thought out and researched “bottom up” empowerment strategy continues taking different dimensions, and more so continually being established even in the private schools sector, doesn’t it?

More empowerment sessions STILL VERY WELCOME.

FYI

Our empowerment strategy shortly takes place in 2 boys’ schools. One school has already confirmed everything, whereas the second is still in the process. We have had serious interactions with both schools, as will be shared in due course. We will definitely keep sharing matters of the continuing developments.
