In my January YouTube interview regarding challenges associated with universities ( https://youtu.be/v7kPpxei7Js), I indicated very clearly why I no longer conduct seminars in universities. The reasons shared are in reference to findings in one of the seminars, as clearly articulated in the publication titled Living Beyond Survival: No More Tiptoeing in Life.

It had been found that disempowerment of students is highly entrenched at that level. In that regard, it was this week not surprising to be engaged by a 40 year old Kenyan, who has been undergoing serious Career Dilemmas in the recent years. Daisy as I will refer to her, undertook a university degree upon admission by the then JAB – Joints admissions Board. As a B Student, Daisy had no issues being admitted for Bachelor of Administration in Economics (BA Economics).

After graduation, Daisy like most of her yearmates, was comfortable securing a job as a banker in one of the leading banks. She was initially engaged as a Teller (cashier) but over the years rose to become a customer service staff. By the 8th year Daisy had become a supervisor in Customer Service Department. Sadly, she had lost job satisfaction and more specifically passion of working as a banker.

Daisy’s threats of leaving employment were no secret and were well known by her bosses, who kept on convincing her otherwise. In 2016, Daisy decided to voluntarily quit from her job as a banker. Unfortunately, she was not sure of what next. But, upon securing her terminal benefits, Daisy found the same ideal for taking her back to school, this time for a Master of Business Administration Degree -MBA specializing in Finance.

In the MBA Class, all of Daisy’s classmates were surprisingly Certified Public Accountants – CPAKs, and she found herself out of place. As such, she decided to take a break and first complete the CPA K qualifications, which she was remaining 2 parts, having cleared the first part, while still working in the bank. Eventually, Daisy easily acquired the CPA qualification and turned to her MBA degree, which she completed during the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Alongside, Daisy had ventured into some farming business activities, which had enabled her to finance her re-empowerment. So, what next after all these achievements? The dilemas for Daisy easily fell in place upon focusing towards the careers aligned to her new areas of study.

Unfortunately, she doesn’t have the necessary experience, yet time is ticking. That was the purpose of our engagement after thorough research on our webasite, YouTube channel and others. Under such circumstances, how would you advice Daisy?

In our case as always, we took Daisy, through a holistic process of how empowerment should take shape, in the 21st Century. After this, we took her through assessment of her own personal situation. What were the findings?

As an average student, Daisy has been a victim of the Kenyan Education System right from secondary school to university. Recently, she undertook re-empowerment aiming to improve her situation. The good news is that the CPA profession is broad based and once Daisy follows the advise based on the assessment results of her situation, she is likely to correctly re-align her career projections.

In any case, the cliche that life starts at 40 is real, isn’t it? The key concern is, how are you preparing our future leaders under your care, with regard to helping them make the right choices at every empowerment stage? Surely, do they have to undergoe similar dilemmas when solutions are easily within reach? That should not be allowed to happen as we each continue contributing to the improvement of the welfare of humanity, as expected, isn’t it?

FYI
The case under reference somehow sheds light on why even teachers continue re-entering school for re-alignment of their knowledge, after our seminars, doesn’t it? Let’s compare notes through

Or

where we learn that a teacher abandoned work unceremoniously, soon after our seminar.
