Before our empowerment mission started expanding largely in the school system, as from 2016, we were quite active in professional forums, as well as the religious sector. When the mission focused on hinterland counties, especially of Mt. Kenya, Eastern and Rift Valley regions, little or no space was left for the earlier beneficiaries, largely within Nairobi, but outside the school system.
Based on public demand however, more activation of my YouTube Channel as from January 2022, has started reaching out to other interested parties, most of whom could have been reached out in the earlier days. The responses have nevertheless been quite encouraging.
Just two weeks ago, a former banker, underwent a coaching session on sorting out career re-alignment and related dilemmas, upon having acquired a CPA qualification and Masters degree specializing in Finance, as was recently discussed in this forum. The next session if necessary will involve discussions on any clarifications, that may arise upon reading of the concept titled ” Career Dynamics in the 21st Century.”
At the same time, we became aware of another interested party, sometimes in early March 2022. During a social forum, we interacted with yet another YouTube follower who had been referred to the same by a friend. Upon bumping into one another, Martha (not real name) who was a stranger to me said hello and at the same time, sought to know my profession.
Me: I will definitely let you know once I get to know you and yours as well.
Martha: I am a banker and I am a follower of your YouTube channel.
Me: Wow! Based on what you have been following, you should have noticed that I am an author as well as a professional trainer/Strategy expert, haven’t you?
Martha: Actually, I just wanted to confirm that, as I may need some help from you.
Me: What kind of help?
Martha: Though I still have a long way to go before my retirement, I have some business interest, which I would like us to discuss.
Me: How many years are you remaining and what is the business interest?
Martha: I am only 36 years old, but interested in starting a school here in Nairobi. I already own a plot, which could accommodate that.
Me: Well, a school may be a good idea but before we have any serious discussions, I will recommend that you read Career Dynamics in the 21st Century, will you?
Martha: I don’t mind that approach.
Before parting, I fetched a copy of Career Dynamics in the 21st Century from the car and presented it to Martha. She promised to immediately start reading the same.
On the last Friday of March 2022, I thought of seeking feedback from Martha through a phone call, as I occasionally do. Martha was full of excitement, especially upon understanding herself better.
Surprisingly, Martha had already abandoned the idea of starting a school and was settling on a new idea, which she indicated, will be discussed in details in due course. Seemingly, every one of our empowerment effort has an impact on the life of a Kenyan or more, isn’t it?
